Gum disease is a pathological inflammatory condition that is best treated in its early stages. It occurs due to poor oral hygiene. As it does not happen overnight, but develops over time, you will often not even know that you have gum disease. At Fraccaro Dental Group, our dentists will thoroughly conduct an oral check-up and provide you with an effective treatment plan in Hamilton and surrounding areas. In addition to gingivitis treatment, we also provide solutions to tackle a range of periodontal diseases.

Gingivitis
The early stage of gum disease is called gingivitis. At this stage, the infection/inflammation affecting your gums hasn’t reached the bones yet. Rigorous oral hygiene can control it. Regular teeth brushing, flossing, and rinsing with a disinfectant solution (such as Chlorhexidine or Listerine) or salt water, along with your professional dental cleanings, can control and even prevent the infection.
Periodontitis
Periodontitis is the more advanced level of the gum infection. At this stage, pockets will be formed between your teeth and gums; you’ll start losing bone structure, and your teeth will start to decay. Our dental hygienist will perform scaling and root planning, a non-surgical procedure for deep cleaning.
